Seeking a proactive Test & Validation Engineer to join the Automotive Mobility AM Team.
In this role, you’ll be an integral part of a dedicated team focused on developing cutting-edge transport solutions for the Middle-East, with a primary emphasis on Saudi Arabia.
Collaborating closely with architects, you’ll conduct hands-on testing across various subsystems, including vehicle platforms, software, and sensors. Your responsibilities will include ensuring alignment with budget, timeline, and resource constraints while testing developments in real-world scenarios.
Role:
- Understand the near-term development roadmap from the AM Team and provide inputs on strategies for testing/validating the systems at different level (component, sub-system, system of system, full product, etc.) under different types of testing (functional, endurance, etc.)
- Work with the Test & Validation Lead on the test plans to formulate objective, methodology & passing criteria; evaluate testing locations; and identify any testing equipment needed, with corresponding suppliers
- Conduct field testing of systems in line with applicable procedures & safety standards, diligently monitor & report on the findings to other team members
- Quickly triage, prioritize, and propose resolutions to problems during testing
- In conjunction with the relevant architect, root cause areas that most commonly break out builds and work with engineering teams to ensure protection/improvements moving forward
- Maintain and regularly update the documentation relating to testing
- Together with the AM Team, review requirements for international testing standards & certification for autonomous driving, and devise plans for it in the long-term
Profile
- BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, etc.)
- At least 3-4 years of experience (if BS degree holder) in testing systems of vehicles or in fields similar in complexity to robotics and/or autonomous driving; for post-graduate candidates experience requirement is a minimum of 2-3 years
- A good understanding of the design and development of complex systems with mechanical, electrical, and software components
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to drive alignment across team members and explain clearly the findings/aspects of testing activities
- A clean driving record with valid driver’s license in KSA for cars & light commercial vehicles
- Ability to make quick decisions on the ground, and work with different authorities/organizations towards getting approvals for testing/deployment of solutions developed by the AM Team
- Self-organized & detail-oriented person with positive attitude towards challenges in the role
Additional qualifications (not mandatory but advantageous)
- Direct experience with development/testing of autonomous vehicles and their frameworks
- Any application of ISO-26262, ISO-21448, MIL-STD or other similar safety specifications
- Familiarity with sensor technologies such as radar, lidar, GNSS and cameras
This position is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with exciting opportunities for travel to diverse test sites nationwide and internationally, including the UK.
